Swiss IT students visit high-tech
Finland
The annual Summer School on Telecommunications was again held in Lappeenranta,
Finland in the first week of August 2001. For the second time, Nokia and
sunrise sponsored 20 graduates from Swiss universities to attend the school.
consul&ad, which provides consulting services in marketing and communications,
planned and organised the event.
Nokia and sunrise both see themselves as companies with a vital social
contribution to make in this "information age". Both companies
have set themselves the objective of taking an active part in formulating
training policy and supporting suitable projects in this area as far as
financial and human resources allow. So that they can make a contribution
to the international student exchange programme and to further professional
training, the companies are building up and cultivating a network of contacts
with appropriate educational institutions.
The week-long programme of seminars featured presentations by speakers
of international renown. A list of the topics can be found at http://www.kareltek.fi/sem/summer10/.
For the students and lecturers taking part, it was an opportunity to meet
highly qualified experts from around the world and to swap ideas on telecoms-related
subjects. The series of varied and interesting evening programmes on offer
ensured that those making the trip to Finland enjoyed an unforgettable
experience.
